Weird...Adjust the game to a lower resolution setting and see if it works there

might make sure your video drivers are all up to date.

you can also try running BF2 in Windowed mode...you might get to see the error that's produced. to do that modify your BF2 shortcut (or better yet make a copy of it) then go into the properties for the shortcut and change the target line to look like this:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0

save and run BF2 using this shortcut...if there is an error you should be able to see it ;)

Well I think the error is pretty damn obvious.

Text: Unkown DynamicOption Value 800x600@100Hz

Why are you running 100hz ? If you're using a TFT monitor, you should set it to 60hz (some support 75hz though).

Go into your My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\ and delete the Video.con.

Likewise, do the same for the 0001 folder.

Well, does it start ?

better yet...

go anywhere on your desktop and <right-click> and choose "Properties"

Click on the "Settings" tab and then click on the "Advanced" button

Now click on the "Monitor" tab...

it should say there what refresh rate you have set currently for your monitor.

If its not 60hz or 75hz (my monitor has a 75hz setting) then set it to one of those.

Now go into BF2 and make sure you're setting the same refresh rate for the game...if it doesn't match, THAT can cause problems like what you are seeing...

If he has desktop refresh rate higher than 75hz, how would he even be able to see his desktop ? The monitor would just go blank.

True...I stand corrected... ;)

The problem I had originally was with the Windows refresh rate not matching the BF2 refresh rate. So he needs to make sure of that regardless... :)
