Wake Island 2142 Being Released as Official BF2142 Content

The Sir. Community is pleased to say that our Wake Island 2142 map will be released with the upcoming 1.50 patch for Battlefield 2142 along with Operation Shingle, made by our close friend, Jason Brice. We are ecstatic about this release, as it's the first community content ever converted into official game material. As stated on the official Battlefield portal, Battlefield.com (http://www.battlefield.com), The Sir. Community has worked very closely with the DICE Live Team while producing this map and we'd like to thank them for this wonderful opportunity. However, we owe much of our success to an incredible group of people over at TacticalGamer.com (http://www.tacticalgamer.com). Through their maturity, team oriented play, tactical prowess, and good gaming morals, Wake Island 2142 went from an aesthetically pleasing landscape to a battlefield that will be thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We look forward to any and all feedback about the map when the open beta begins in the next few days. Keep in mind, just like everything in life, not everyone will be pleased. We guarantee, as a Sir. Community product, all feedback will be considered for the final release.

Finally I can get my wake fix on 2142. Actually went back to BF2 after a year and started playing again. This patch will bring me back from COD4 to 2142.

Most people who apprecaite new content and a like don't use forums and a like, they just browse, as they have no care for online discussion/whining, as I understand it, but we really apprecaite it when we do get positive feedback and constructive criticisms.

First off Congratulations to the Sir Community!

As to the EA rant.. um Forums... Yeah I know. I've been semi-active at the EA forums for a while. Most of people there are one timers, only interested in getting their current glitch fixed. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

As to those who have been around the EA forums a while; I would say 90% of the time they are good guys, but yeah they can be a little vicious when they want to be. They always like to have the last word, it's kind of funny sometimes. Like a miniature soap opera playing out in between posts. But like I said they really are good people.

Anyways on to better topics: I love the ramp you guys put in on the bridge between Checkpoint and Village, very sneaky... And somewhere there is a 'bombed out' tree another nice detail.

Congratulations on getting a map you guys made into the game, that's awesome!
Sadly though, I have yet to play it... I'm downloading the patch right now to play it...

Hopefully EA/DICE doesn't take 3 months to release the 1.5 final, like they did with 1.4... That was sad and lost a lot of 2142 players, unfortunately.

Once I manage to download and install the patch, I'll post what I think of it. =)

I have windows on here, its just that was like 6 months ago. Before I even knew I had a copy of XP that I could use. I think I'll buy it for windows though, kinda sad that theres no Northern Strike. All we get is an automated email if we ask for it. :( It was Christmas gift and I didn't really think much about gaming. More of what type of video editors I could get

Man, you better be joking. Ever heard of Shake, Final Cut, After effects, Premiere? They used shake in star wars 3. I think mac's are in the industry. And vegas doesnt stand up to those tools. Not in the professional industry.

Shake is extremely powerful, even though it doesn't seem like it. Final Cut does have some advantages. I was referring to the studio any ways, so color takes a big role in color correction.

The point I was trying to make is that our home brew (and I mean that in a good way) methods of making videos (and quite excellent ones), we forget the fact that professional companies do thing quite differently. I did like Desktop Battlefield and I'm not denying that there is some amazing work done on Vegas.
The general trend in the professional video editing however is to use mac computers. I was simply surprised that Vegas was characterized as the cats pajamas, when in the context of Quarter million dollar Avid Media Composer systems, it does tend to feel more Honda-ish. BTW, I love my civic.
